Background
Interleukin 11 (IL-11) is a thrombopoietic growth factor that directly stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells and induces megakaryocyte maturation resulting in increased platelet production. IL-11 is a member of a family of human growth factors that includes human growth hormone, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and other growth factors.

Recombinant Human Interleukin-11 (IL-11) Protein is 177 amino acids in length and differs from the 178 amino acid length of native IL-11 by lacking the amino-terminal praline residue.
N-terminal sequence analysis: Gly-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Pro-Pro-Arg-Val-Ser-Pro-Asp-Pro-Arg-Ala.
Predicted molecular mass: 19,000 Dalton.
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of murine 7TD1 was found to be less than 0.2 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 8.0 x 10^6 IU/mg.

Reconstitution: Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 ug/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in 1X PBS. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
