天然抗NP B1-8抗体（IgG2c, kappa）非常适合用作同型匹配的对照抗体，以评估抗原特异性抗体非特异性结合的程度。重组B1-8 IgG2c kappa同型对照及其突变体（天然及工程化小鼠IgG2c同型对照）适用于从ELISA、蛋白质印迹（WB）、细胞实验到动物模型研究等各项体外和体内研究。小鼠IgG2c抗体在某些近交系小鼠（如C57BL/6、C57BL/10、SJL和NOD）中表达，这些品系通常不表达小鼠IgG2a抗体，反之亦然。如果在动物研究中使用上述任何小鼠品系，使用IgG2c抗体通常比使用IgG2a抗体更为合适。Fc工程化改造的IgG抗体形式正日益增多，其中Fc沉默、Fc无活性或具有沉默效应功能的Fc突变体最为流行。因此，在这类应用中应使用野生型小鼠IgG2c同型对照以及Fc沉默的小鼠IgG2c同型对照突变体。
